Where you move also very much depends on the industry you work in/want to work in. For instance, my current home town Charlotte, NC (and her ugly duckling sister Raleigh hahahaha) are gobbling up fin tech jobs as if there is no tomorrow. To the point that finding a reasonably priced house for sale in the greater Charlotte area has become nearly impossible. It is fun to watch (as I put down roots in the burbs in 2015) but the struggle is real!
There was a time when Atlanta was poaching music, movie and TV talent away from LA, but with the new GA voters law this seems to have been dented. Anyway, point is: the type of work you are seeking, or the type of talent you need to succeed will also influence where you move.
